I have a distributed app that runs on any OS platform from windows 95 and up. One of my client reports an Error when he attempts to access the APP. He is on Windows 98 SE.

"Runtime Error 440, Automation Error".

The code that looks to cause the error is merely connecting to an Access Database through ADO. He has since upgraded to MDAC 2.7 but still no luck.

I have built a clean Windows 98 SE pc and installed my APP, it works perfectly. I fact, ive never had this problem before.

Thanks in advance.

I know that error very well. It's caused by poorly formed SQL usually. Put in a break point and print out your SQL and see if it would work on Access.

Bob26i,

Thanks for the tip, i will try that. But that doesnt explain why it works on all the other machines i install it on but not this 1 f&%@!! , lol, machine.

Would it help to install DCOM 98 on the windows 98 machine ?
