Runtime application I/O error at printing

My company uses a FoxPro runtime application written specifically for us by an employee who is no longer with the company. We have purchased a new PC, and I have tried to get the application to run on it (from the server). After trying many things, I finally had a breakthrough and was able to launch the program. However, whenever I try to print, I get an I/O error with Cancel and Ignore choices.

A couple of things I have done: I reloaded FoxPro 2.6 and updated it and the runtime library .ESL file, and ran the patch for the "faster machine" problem. From that point, when I launched the program, I began getting immediate startup I/O errors. From this group, I learned of the .EXE patch file for fixing the I/O problem. I downloaded it and ran it on the .EXE file on the server, which got me to the point where I am able to run the application. Accessing the hardcopy printing feature, however, still gives the I/O error.

Although I've used FileMaker (is that a dirty word here? Sorry if it is), I'm far from a database programmer. We are looking into alternatives to this homemade application, but until we can migrate off, I still need to use it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Guess I should have also mentioned:
The machine I'm trying to run the application on is running Windows 98. We have another machine which has succesfully run the application on this platform. Also, the program is running and printing fine from the other machines in the shop.

I suggest the following...

1. MAP network drive where the application resides as say "S:"
for this you have to issue...
NET USE S: \\MyServer\MyShareName

2. Install the same printer driver as the machine which is working fine..(probably the printer driver is used in the report files). If necessary, capture the LPT1 to the computer where this printer is available.

3. Log into the S: (said above) and run the application from that drive..

Probably, you can use a batch command for all these and create a shorcut for this batch command on the desk top.

Hope this helps you and let know if this solves. ramani :-9

PROBLEM SOLVED. more or less.

Everyone was saying that putting a CD in the CD drive fixed the problem, but that didn't help me. It finally dawned on me that the "d:" drive might be the problem, instead of the "e:" drive, to which the CD is mapped. The "d:" drive on this machine is for a Zip disk drive, so I put a Zip disk in and voila! I am now able to print.

Being more of a Mac guy than a PC guy, though, I don't know if it is possible to rename the "d:" drive to something else, and I don't know enough about FoxPro to figure out how the printing function is hard-wired to call out for that drive. So, I'm still open to suggestions in those regards.
