Hey I Run Voice & Data on one cat5 wow

I do it all the time run everything on one cat 5
"Projectpete" on your old post the brown pair 7+8 is used for POE and the blue pair is telephone pins 4+5
green and orange is data pins 1+2 3+7

When you added them all together its the cat's ASS

apparently their is more than one way to skin a cat5

In situations were VoIP is not a consideration, there really isn't much to be gained by going with 5E for digital or analog voice.

With 5E you have to un-twist cable pairs in order to punch down on 66 & 110 blocks or patch panels. With most CAT3 cables, the pairs have very loose twists (or none at all) so termination is very quick and painless.

5E is perfectly fine for data. So you can run CAT3 for voice and CAT5E or higher for data. If VoIP is implemented later on, you'll already have a 5E drop (or higher) run to various stations. It is my understanding that, for straight voice, VoIP phones will function fine with CAT3 cable.
