Hi All

I have a table that has an employee name and employee badge number and an Absence Date and the amount of minutes absent.

I have my report grouped by Employee Badge as this is a unique field.

I have a running total field that calculates the total minutes absent per employee. The running total is set to sum total minutes, it evaluates each record and resets on change of group (Badge Number). This works fine for all employees that do have an absence recorded, but if an employee hass no absences then the running total sets the employee to the absence total of a previous employee with an absence. Has anyone come across this before and if so is there a way round it?

could you give some more info on how you link the tables, what type of join.

could you chek on the detail section for those records that have no Absence see if there is any data displayed.

Hi

Its only one table so there a no joins required.

And the only data displayed on the detail section is The Employee Name and ID No, there are no absence details at all shown...

So this is why i am getting a little confused as to why it is displaying a running total!!.

have you tried by inserting a summary instead of a running totals?

Hi

Thanks for the replys, yeah i did try the summary fields but it does not give me the correct information that I need, whereas the Running total does, but it just gives me a problem on Employees that do not have any absences.

sorry to be a pain but could you please give a sample of the data with the fields structure.

Also the version of CR and the Database

Given your description of how you set up the running total, a summary should return the same information as a running total--unless you have a group selection formula.

I can't recall seeing the kind of behavior you describe, although there was a problem with running totals in 8.0 that was corrected with a service pack.

You could try using the following formula to display the running total results (in the group footer):

if isnull({#yourrunningtotal}) then 0 else
{#yourrunningtotal}
