Running Totals and a line chart

I am trying to build a defect run chart that show the total number of cumulative defects in a given state for each month. I have 2 groups (group1=month, Group2 =defect state)
I can calculate the cumulative defects in each state for each month using the running total, but when I try to chart this infomation in the page header the data appears to be shifted by one month.
It appears that when I ask to chart "on change of-> month" show "running total for open defects" it will show me the running total that was calculated prior to that given month.
The thing that has me boggled, is that I have a crosstab in the header that shows as the same field relationship, and it is correct.


Does anyone have any words of wisdom on how to make this chart?

By placing your chart in the header, the running totals for the current month haven't been calculated at the time the chart is run (that's why the chart is shifted by a month since it's actually charting on the previous month's running totals). Try placing your chart in the page footer and use the underlay feature in the section options so that you can move your chart to where you want it on the page.

thanks for the recommendation. I tried what you mentioned, but it did not help.
I am using CR8.
Any other words of advice

It would seem that Running totals should be much easier to use.

No other recommendations at this time. Sounds like a problem with which pass through things are getting calculated. Only other thing to try would be creating a new section under group 2 so you have a group 2-a and placing the chart there using the same underlay feature.
