It's been years since I've run Paradox, but I've got a complex data manipulation job today, and I'd love to use Paradox. I have my old paradox files and a shortcut with which, years ago, I used to run Paradox from my Zip drive under Win 95.

When I try to run Paradox I get the splash screen and then an error message "Unexepected condition: GP 0000 at Paradox:28:12d7 -- Leaving Paradox".

What I need;-- command line switches! I recollect that you needed a switch to permit the program to run if you had more than 16Mb of memory! I've fiddled with the advanced button on the shortcut to try to manage the memory environment, but all to no avail. I had a "-net" switch in that old command line;-- what was that for?

Suggestions, Please.

If you have simply copied a Paradox 3.5 or 4.0 installation to another machine (correct me if I'm wrong) it may be difficult to start. I recommend that you perform a fresh install from the original installation disks. If you don't have the originals you should purchase the latest version of Paradox and convert your existing tables.

There are ways to place an old installation on a new system but they constitute acts of software piracy.

<a href= temporary Vorpalcom home page
Send me suggestions or comments on my current software project.

I did a fresh install from my original 4.0 disks and rebooted my computer. I now get an error message "Can't load PARADOX.MSG system file Press any key..."

It still won't run.

I installed again, but I still get the same message.

Suggestions?

try " paradox - extk 2048" in a DOS window

I got Pdox 4.0 to run in a DOS window. Thanks Joe887.
But it sure is clunkly working that way.

I run paradox under Windows 95 and Windows 98 in a peer to peer Network environment. Each workstation accesses using the a windows icon. The icon is coded as follows:
 Cmd Line; c:\pdox45\paradox.exe -extk 16000
Working; c:\pdox45\apps (this is where my data, scripts, etc are located.
