Running or modifying the design of a query via linked excel sheet always opens the excel sheet

Hi all;

I have linked an excel spreadsheet to my Access DB. I have created a query that runs properly however when I run the query or modify the design of the query, the excel sheet I am getting my result from also opens.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks,
Robert

It's weird Duane - the query opens the spreadsheet only if Excel is open (even if it's open to a blank workbook).

The other odd thing is that I have linked to a number of spreadsheets and only a couple have this problem - if Excel is open they open the linked spreadsheet - if excel is closed they take a good 30 seconds for the query results to appear. In queries where running the query does not open the associated excel sheet the results come back in a blink...This is Office 2010 in a Windows 7 envrionment.

Both the DB and the spreadsheets are on a shared drive...I really don't want these sheets to open as other users are adding/changing data. All I want are the query results.
