Anyone here running their Call Managers/Unified Communications Manager 5.x and up on a vmware?

For those with small shops, one Publisher and one subscriber, and maybe one Unity machine, do you run it all on one machine?

Any opinions on vmware? I'm a little nervous creating a new single point of failure, but a single machine running all our communications software would be kinda nice.

Are you talking about a production system? Even if you're able to make it work, I would highly recommend against running a production system from VMWare. If you want to do it right and you want support from Cisco, do it the way they recommend. If you're just trying to save money then don't use Cisco for VoIP. There are other less expensive solutions out there that work just fine.

Even if you are able to install the software on a VMWare image, you most probably will have problems getting a working server license for it. The MAC-addresses as used by VMWare are most certainly not accepted by Cisco Licensing. And yes; you'll need licenses to be able to start the CallManager service. And ofcourse no support from Cisco TAC.
If you are building a LAB system, ask your Cisco Engineer for available options.

Cisco has a new product, named "Cisco Unified Communication Manager 6 Business Edition", which comes with Communication Manager 6 (formely known as CallManager) and Unity Connection installed on 1 (special) box, the MCS-7828 (IBM or HP server based) upto 500 users.

IPCC Express will probably be added in the future.
No support for redundancy however.
