I want to run mysql on a NT server.
I have a Linksys DSL router attached to the server.
Do I have to give the server a static internal ip address and forward the ports to it?
If so, what ports do i need to forward?
Should I run a dedicated pc for the server, for security conserns, a win 9x or lynix??

Thanks for any help

Just to run MySQL, you don't need to do anything with networking. Do you want another machine elsewhere on the web to be able to access MySQL? Or another machine on an internal network?

Hi,

U can acces MySQl from any where wether on ur local network or from Internet. Just what u have to do is to mention the remote host in the MySQL command to connect to the db.

can you say more detaily how to do it? John Fill

I just changed over to a linksys 4 port dsl router. It works fine after one forwards the port.

Now if I can only get that darn VPN thing working.
Thanks for your help.
