Running AXL against CallManager

Hi,
I have been doing research on how to query directory list from CallManager. It seems that AXL is the way, but I cannot run the Java sample code provided by Cisco, there is no way i can execute the code locally, but remotely. I have CallManager 5.1 installed on a linux box. Btw, the when i excute the code, i get nothing.
Can anyone give me some tips or point me the proper way?
