Hi All,

I have been running Apache under Win98 for a few months now but a recurring problem is being unable to shutdown the server!

I run the service from a dos prompt like this:
apache -k install -n "localhost" -k start -w

and try to shut down like this:
apache -k shutdown -n "localhost" it trys, waits and then reports it is unable to shutdown the server...I have been advised to run Apache as a service but htought this was only possible on NT/2K systems, can it really be done under 98? I'm using windows tcp/ip networking if that's a help....

It's unstable on Win98. You should run Win NT, 2K, XP, or better still, unix. Newposter

I use it on an ME box. I DONT run it as a service. Instead, I use a shortcut to start it and a shortcut to stop it. Christopher F. Neumann

Hmm, I'll try that, you have to specify the switches in the shortcut boxes I assume?
