I am trying to do a running sum or total in Access in a report. What I trying to do is keep a log of available inventory.

The table field are
TotalMeth
TotalTake
AvailableInv which is (the previous inventory + totalmeth - total take)

Can anyone help me?

Place the fields in the details section; TotalMeth TotalTake
Then in the Report Footer or Page Footer add a text box control with a control source something like this;
=((Sum([TotalMeth])) - (Sum([TotalTake])))
This should give you your available inventory.

well i really want it to give me the available inventory after each record, not after the whole report. is it away that i can do this.
