Hi,

I need to schedule a very large report to run every night. I downloaded the compiler piece and can execute using the scheduler within the executable. The instructions with the compiler recommend using the web component instead of compiling but I can't see any way to schedule a report using the web piece. Am I missing something?

I've tried using WinAT to schedule the executable but the RPT file doesn't change, only the EXE and CRF files get updated. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Seagate's recommendation to use the Web component as a replacement for Compiled Reports is nonsense. The Web server doesn't do many of the things that a Compiled report allows, and it is slower and takes NT to implement.

The compiled reports work just fine, but Seagate doesn't want to keep giving away the runtime engine (my guess).

I don't understand why you would expect the RPT to change. You should know that all three files have to stay together to work. [sig]
Ken Hamady- href= Reports Training by Ken Hamady
[/sig]

Thanks for answering. I mean that if I check the modified time in Explorer after scheduling/running the compiled report, the EXE and CRF files have a modified time but the report doesn't, which (to me) indicates the actual report wasn't updated.

I appreciate your clarifying the web component issue because I really didn't see how that would be a true replacement for the compiler. Thanks! [sig][/sig]

I don't think the report should be updated. The EXE points to the report, so if the EXE is updated, that should be enough. Of course I am not sure what changes it is making and if they are compatible with the Seagate EXE.

I'm working now withCR8 and the option of compiling a report disappeared. Has anyone where it was moved?
