Hello all! I'm a newcomer here and was hoping that someone could answer a question for me. I'm currently learning about batch files and DOS and don't yet know much about what I'm doing. A good friend of mine (who is also my boss), played a joke on me by writing and scheduling a batch file that sends 50+ messages at a time through net send at different times of the day. (It takes a good two minutes just to close all the messages!) He also did it to where the messages are coming from other people's machines- even from our print server- instead of from his machine. How did he do that??? I know how to send several messages at once with a batch file, but I don't know how to schedule it and I don't know how to send them from machines other than my own. Can someone please explain to me how this is done? Also, does anyone know of any fun (NOT harmful!) ways I can play a joke back on him?
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Jen ;-)

he probaly made a batch file that runs silently and then made it a schedule task on the machines that are sending you the message certain times a day.

You're probably right- but how is that done? That's what I'm having trouble understanding. What are the steps to doing that?

Well you open your task wizard and create a new task. When it ask what task tell it run your bat file. You'll want too put your bat file on the pc your runing on or point it the share if your sharing it. Then you just go through the wizard and fill out the details like how often to run etc. If you can find your task wizard do a search for task and it should showup in the search box.

And actually, he's been able to send unscheduled messages through net send from other machines also. How on earth do you send a message from someone else's machine?
Thank you so much for your help! :)

I dont know unless he is using somthing like remote desktop on the pc's. Or maybe he is just renaming his pc to make you think its not from him.

I don't know- we use Dameware as our remote desktop, but he says he didn't use it for this. Personally, I'm baffled! :-D
Thank you for your help- I'm going to have to play with the task wizard now and see if I can figure out how to use it.
Thanks again!
P.S. Do you know of any fun jokes I can play on him? (We play all kinds of pranks on each other, but I'm afraid he's way ahead of me in computer knowledge. Not a real level playing field if you know what I mean! :-D)

Hey bcastner- is that the screensaver that looks like the BSOD? I would use it, but he's already seen it. :-( I've used it with some of my other friends though! :-D
