Hello All

Has anybody tried to run 2 R5 Clients on one desktop? If you have, and it works, please let me know. Its getting to be a pain when I do replications of database's, and I have work to do elsewhere within Notes.

Thanks

Try this:
+Copy the the data directory to the Notes directory and call it Data2.
+MOVE the Notes.INI to the Data directory
+Copy that same Notes.INI file to the Data2 directory.
+Edit the Notes.ini file in Data2 Delete all lines except for the first three lines. Save and close
+Delete the following files fromthe Data2 Directory:
-Bookmark.NSF
-Desktop5.DSK
-CACHE.DSK
+Rename the Names.nsf file to OldNames.nsf
+On the Windows desktop create two shortcuts to NLNotes.exe in the Notes directory
+On the first shortcut change the StartIn to the Data directory(this will be for the first inital user that was setup)
+Do the same for the second shortcut but point it to the Data2 directory.
+Now Double click the Shortcut that points to the Data2 directory. This will start the Notes setup. Do the setup for the second person.
+Double click the shortcut to the Data Directory to make sure that one still works.

That should work.

Hello

As it stands, user1 has the progs in c:\notes, and the data in c:\data\notes.

user2, what would you suggest the prog and data folder be?

All you need is the data folder.

C:\Data\Notes2

As a suggestion

Hello Patou812

I have tried what you suggested, yet the User2 installation asked for a pernames.ntf in the c:\notes folder. Which I added one to.
after launching the user2 nlnotes icon, insert the password for the id file, it comes up with an error "file does not exist".
Any more ideas?

OK this has become more work than help huh? My apologies.
Question : Why do you have the data directory as C:\Data\Notes? (Compared to C:\Notes\Data)

Try to delete the lines in the Notes.ini file again to do the setup one more time.
We do this all the time not sure why your having problems.

May I tell you to beg attention to line 3 :
Directory=X:\lotus\notes\data !!!

And ?
Well the first notes.ini will say data
On the second notes.ini change that to data2 !!!

I think this will work .

Bye .

That could be it.
If the first 3 lines were kept that line should have been deleted too.

Let us know if this is successful or not.
