i used sfc /scannow and it didn't work

i hope that i find a solution for this problem.

My best guess is your rundll32 file is corrupted. You may need to get another one from your Windows CD, someone who has your SAME operating system, or even reinstall windows.

I would think it is the file rundll is calling: mshtml.dll.
Rundll.exe is a program that "Runs a dll as an exe". It is what runs a lot of stuff in Windows. If it was bad you would be getting a lot more errors. I would try the System File Checker to replace that one file from the CD.

yes, true. I would recommend using the File Checker, and maybe doing a Complete ScanDisk (not Standard, COMPLETE)

I doubt that would fix it, but it might fix other related problems....

I think the current version of mshtml.dll is 6.0.2800.1226 size 2.66mb, and rundll.exe 5.1.2600.0 size 31kb. Perhaps you can check Windows Update.

Thank you all for your answers .

So we have here 5 suggestions :

- to get another runndll32.exe file from my windows cd
- reinstall windows.
- doing System File Checker to replace the mshtml.dll
- doing a complete scan disk
- check windows update for the mshtml.dll and rundll.exe

Well I think that we can put them in this order :

- doing a complete scan disk
- doing System File Checker to replace the mshtml.dll
- check windows update for the mshtml.dll and rundll.exe
- to get another runndll32.exe file from my windows cd
- reinstall windows.

So I started by making the complete scan disk from drive c > prosperities > tools > error checking > check now .

I have two choices : automatically fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

I tried both of them and it doesn't work.

- Then we have the second choice : doing System File Checker to replace the mshtml.dll

How can I make this step ?

In details please.

Thank you.

go to start - run
Type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes.
Hit enter and sit back and wait.

Do i have to put the windows cd during this operation?

Only if it asks for the CD. It probably will, but this depends on where your "source" files are located. Many copy them onto the harddrive so as to avoid using the CD in this situation.

Start, run, regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll

Thank you very much for your answers

i reinstalled all windows yesterday.

of course the problem is fixed now .

but about the sfc /scannow it didn't work.

i hope .. i hope that this problem will not repeat but i will put the last option from Bill Castner in my mind to test it .

because i recieved your answers after the reintallation.

so thank you very much and i hope that i can some how give you any help.
