Hello,
I have been looking to create a run-time version of a database.
Looking up the info it appears that there is no difference between a run-time and a mde application.
Isn't it just as easy to create an mde database and call it run-time?

An mde is a compiled database, which means that no-one can change the code in an mde. However, it still need something to make it run, and that is either a full copy of Access or a limited, runtime version of Access, and there lies the difference beween a runtime and an mde, 'runtime' is the program, 'mde' is the file.

Hi Remou,
Yes I see what you are saying
Thanks

Is it possible to use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to create a run time database file?

No. You can use Visual Studio to attach to a database. The only way you can get an Access runtime _programme_ is from Microsoft.

Access 2007 Runtime is free, also runs the older databases/mde's.... may want to try it.

Runtime is primarily used for the PC's that do not have Access... it will run your MDB or MDE files on their PC.

If you use this runtime (2007) on an older MDE... test it thoroughly as 2007 does have some differences and your MDE may not run as expected.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
John
