I need to run a menu that I created in .NET from a CD is it possible to put the client files on the CD without requiring them to be installed as could be done in Visual Basic 6

If so what files do I need to put on the CD I know mscoree.dll is required but others are as well

Any help would be appreciated

I have never done it, but I would assume that each PC that it would be run on would have to have the .Net Framework, since a .NET app requires the framework to be able to run anyway.

Then on the cd you would only need the exe as all of the dll's would be local.

I cant install the .net framework....

it is a menu for a tech disk installing framework wont work

it worked fine in vb6 but I dont want to have to go back to vb6

Then it can't be done.

.Net software relies on the framework being installed.

You can take a look at the remotesoft linker. They claim to be able to link in the framework itself to your app (
Otherwise, you're out of luck. Try writing your app in C++, for which the runtime is already on people's computers.

Take a look at a product call Camtasis Studio. It has a CD menu program in it. If all you want to do is run a program, then this might be it. For .NET to work, the framework must be installed, and what's wrong with VB6?

I still use both. It's still used more then you may think.:)

Or how about Wise installer? I have used that to make batch programs.

Nothing is wrong with vb6

I just already upgraded it to .net and there is lots of new code in it that would have to be rewritten in vb6 again

it looks like that is what I will have to do just been putting it off as long as possible...
