Do I need to do anything special to an application so that it will run as a service on a Windows 2000 server?

Then, how do I install it on the server as a service?

Scenario: I need to write an application to place on a Windows 2000 server that will run continuously, and start everytime the server is started.

Any ideas? Any specific questions for me?

Thanks everyone.

This brings back the memories.

Unless someone comes back and says that something better has come out recently to allow VB apps to run efficiently as services, im going to say, VB services almost aren’t stable or worth your time. I messed with this same scenario about 2 years ago and just couldn’t get a service to run reliably.

I have found that going into the schedule agent and setting up that application to be run after startup or something related to the OS starting up will be just as efficient as a service.

I haven’t learned VB.Net stuff yet, but I hear it handles that very well.
