Greetings. I've written a program that shows a list of customers who are waiting in line to see one of our customer representatives. My boss wants me to write a program that displays this list on a flatscreen tv.

I'm assuming that this can be done just so long as the app is running on a computer that is hooked up to the tv. Is this correct? Are there any other things I need to know first before starting this app?

Thanks,

txmed

This is correct. There's really nothing special you need to do. If the screen hasn't much animation, you might include some so that you don't get any burn in. I'm not sure how much of a problem this is with an HDTV, but for the old style big screens, this was a huge problem for me in the past.

RiverGuy,

Thank you so much for your quick response. I'm happy you mentioned about the screen getting burned. I had not thought of that.

I'm also assuming we need some kind of special cables to connect to the computer to the TV. Is this also correct?

Thanks!

The cable used depends on the jacks on the video card and the TV. If both accept HDMI, then an HDMI cable would be the best quality. Worst case scenario would be that the video card does not have a matching output for the TV's input and you'll need to use an adapter or different video card.

Thank you RiverGuy. I really appreciate it.

Keep in mind, a lot of newer flat screen tv's have a 15-pin monitor connector. If that is the case, you'll just need a standard cable to connect it.

Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
