Hi,

I recently found out that I needed to make un UPDATE query with one imported table (of 2000 new names and address) and add it to our database, so that all of these new records will have some of the same information as our existing records. For example: out of three different mailings (summer, winter, both) I need to be able to chose between the three so that, lets say, "both" is in their records.

Also, I need to add on salutaions, and other pieces of information to these names. Is there any way possible to do that besides adding 2000 Mr. and Mrs. by hand?

I guess, first and formost, I need help on actually running an update query. ANd then help with the specifics. I am a little upset becasue I just started this position, without a lot of knowledge to Access, and it doesn't help that NO ONE in this arts office knows how to work a computer! Go figure! I would greatly appreciate your help!

Thanks....

assuming you know how to get a select query started, all you have to do to make it an update query is change the icon before the 'run' icon to update.

choose your tables, click on the down arrow on the icon, choose update query and fill in the columns. i'm not sure how your table is set up. for the mr. and mrs., is there a way to specify which should be a mr. or mrs.? if there is you could add this to the same query. in the 'update to' field, you can put either a field name (tbl.fieldname) or "Mrs.". i hope this helps at least a little.
