I have a table containing a varchar(2000) column.

The following command
length(rtrim(CH_FN_PARMS))
returns the real length of the data one on database server, but on another, it just returns 2000. Both machines are AIX 5.3 db2 8.2.
The data is identical on both machines too.
Thanks

Try and convert the field to HEX in both machines, and see if the final string is the same. It would seem like its not, even though you think it is.

Thanks for your response Frederico.

Fox13, did that explain the difference? When you want to thank Frederico you give him a purple star for his simple and smart answer.
I'll give him one, you do the same?

Truusvlugindewind - thanks for this - didn't know that. I've given you a purple start too!
