Everytime I start up my computer I get this error

RTL

Unable to start driver for HPHipm11.exe (HPHipm11.exe)

I don't even know what RTL is. Not real computer smart, but I can do whatever someone explains to me. Windows XP, Dell Dimension 2300

Thanks RedEye!
I think I'm officially giving up and plan to never turn my PC off ever again! It doesn't seem to work whether it's disabled or on manual. I hope ZA comes up with something to fix it.
Thanks again for all your info. I have learned a lot.

Sorry you are still having problems.
I was surpirsed to find in the Tasks area that HP research was self scheduling tasks to report usage back to HP every 4 hours. I Clicked the Stop Participating in Research Program in the Progam list but the tasks remaind so I deleted the two Tasks in the Task Scheduler that ran the HPHusg04.exe and another executable. They reside in the Printer folder under C:\Program Files\HP Photosmart 11\Printer.
AND I GOT THE ERROR BACK! when I rebooted.
However I immediatly went to the Services.msc and checked the status of the PML service "Pml Driver HPH11" and it was started and set to manual. There there is a tab called "Recovery" where you can tell it to restart up to three times if it fails to start. I had it set to restart the only after the first failure - so I changed it to include second adn subsequent failures. And the error did not come back.

By the way you need to have Administrative Rights to do this.

Good luck!

RedEye! You are a sea of knowledge! It worked! [medal]I couldn't believe it! Thank you so much for your help! What do HP know!
Oh I also set the PML at automatic. And it didn't bring back the error.
Thanks again for you're help.
Have a good one!

I have a WinXP Pro machine and I have been having this problem with HPHipm09.exe...!!!

I looked in Services and found that the PML driver was already set to Manual... I changed the Recovery to restart for all 3 instances... I still get intermittant errors where the Printer will not print. I have an HP Photosmart P1000. This problem only started happening after I installed Zone Alarm.

I cannot find where I can prevent ZA from Starting Automatically on Boot up... I tried unchecking it in the Startup Tab in MSCONFIG but it rechecks itself after reboot...

Any help on preventing ZA from starting until after the PML driver is loaded... How can you control the order in which they load...?

Thanks.

OK so FINALLY I found a fix that works for me, none of the above (or anything else from anywhere else) worked at all. This is what worked for me, might work for some of you's too. I opened ZA & unchecked the 'load at startup' option but kept a copy of the ZA.exe in Windows' Startup folder (I can't even believe they aren't the same thing!) and lo & behold I get no BS on restart AND Zone Alarm loads up no problem. I beat my head against this problem for a very, very long time, I'm very happy to have it finally resolved.. I sure hope it stays that way because as TheRedEye discovered it can still come back to haunt you even after you think you had it licked. Good luck all y'all.

I just started getting the message "Unable to start driver for HPHipm09 and jobs in queue wouldn't print (consistently). A Google search on the message turned up a list of hits including this forum and this thread.

I read thru it, trying (but discounting in my mind) the suggestions related to ZoneAlarm -- which I run in addition to or despite having a router -- the ones about changing the drive letter, and eventually finding the post(s) about services.msc. I disabled the PML driver entry and immediately the printer sprang into life and printed the jobs in the queue.

Thanks for the help. It might also the same or similar to the problem a friend is having.

The Post From -->(Phydeaux3 (TechnicalUser) 31 May 05 9:54) above was The Ultimate Solution to this problem for me... Zone Alarm is DEFINITELY the culprit here.

I cannot add the HP executable file to ZA as a trusted program so I have to Not allow ZA to auto start by it's own internal settings. I have to add it to the Startup folder that way the HP startup job has a chance to run prior to ZA sinking it's claws into the system.

Going into Services and starting or stopping the PML Driver will work as a workaround as needed if you insist on letting ZA start itself. I just got fed up with that process...

Good luck.

I hear you but ZA was NOT the culprit for me. I am running the latest ZA - 5.5.094.000. What about you?

Bernie

I am indeed using that very same version... The printer is a Photosmart P1000. Sorry it took me a couple of days to check it...

And your printer is the very same as mine!

But I have not disabled ZA -- which I think is a bad idea. Disabling the PML driver via services.msc is what did it for me.

By the way, I no longer use the SmartMedia slot for my Fujifilm digital camera since I have a Smartmedia reader that plugs into USB. This is much faster than going thru the slots on the printer. I have mine connected using a parallel cable and on port LPT1 so that my important DOS application can print directly to the P1000.

All - I went though this thread and found it very helpful but still did not work. I tried many of the solutions and followed the directions in
I went back into ZoneAlarm, went through the list in Program Control and found that there were 2 entries called PML Driver and set them to green checkmarks. RedEye's solution dated 11 Aug 04 13:03 I believe (at least for me) was the fix - it just was not clear to state: Find the "PML Driver" in the Program control list. I have rebooted a few times and issue is now fixed.

Hello all.. I read through did all suggestions.. still no joy until I hacked the registry and made the HP service start AFTER ZA

This is not for the faint of heart... alway backup your registry before playing...

For your review...

Add the following 2 string vaules to key::

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pml Driver HPH11]

"DependOnService"="vsmon"
"DependOnGroup"=""

This was only thing that worked for me

Ciao!

I've had this problem for a couple years now and resolved it using a solution mentioned here (adding ZA to the startup folder and unchecking Load ZA at Startup within ZA's preferences). I just updated ZA last week to v 6.0.631.003 and undid the manual startup and I haven't had the problem since (knock on wood).

I have read through all the post but none of them seem to work for me...

HP LaserJet 3200
windows xp

I get the error at start up "unable to start hppapml0.exe" and I can not seem to find it anywhere on my system. I already tried all the above and the version of ZA Pro I have is 5.5.062.000. I hope somebody can help me out :)

Aznguy... Please download the latest version of ZA...
As shown in ttechie's post just before yours he says v6.0.631.003 is available... This should make a difference...

I have been tryin to install that version ttechie said but i get the truevector install error message which is this:

Setup is unable to log into the TrueVector service. Install cannot continue without logging into the TrueVector service.

Please use the service manager to shut down the TrueVector service and then restart the installer program.

What OS are you using...?
Are you up to date on service packs, fixes and patches...?
Try this...:
1. Disconnect from www.
2. Uninstall current version of ZA.
3. Install new version of ZA.
4. Reboot.
5. Reconnect to www.
6. Surf.

I am running Windows XP and yes I am up to date with the fixes and service packs. I have tried the above but am still unable to install ZA. I have uninstalled the current version as stated and when i try to install the current version i get that truevector service error, I just took a look in my registry and typed in true vector and it found one file, I took a screen shot of it to show you what I mean.
