Hi. I am having issues with select Windows 2000 pro clients accessing RTD's. They get the error: 'The system could not retrieve any data from the server because either the server connection is down, or there are currently no agents logged in. If the server connection is working, then try launching the display again later. Transmit mode = Unicast' The Unicast icon is showing up on the window, so it matches the No Relevant Data message in the troubleshooting section of the Admin Guide on the bottom of page 1033, top of 1034. Only Unicast is used from the Web Client server to the clients.

The clients can relaunch the display and sometimes it will populate, but most of the time it won't. The clients have a personal firewall, and when that is shut off it will work 100% of the time. The personal firewall is not blocking any traffic and has been configured to allow all traffic while testing. Packet captures show that the UDP connections are being made to the client. I have other clients w/ the same OS and personal firewall that work fine...very strange issue. They do have the same RTDControlClass. Another strange piece of the puzzle is that everyone works fine using the VPN. Also, everything works fine with XP SP2...same personal firewall. Has anyone else encountered this before or have any suggestions?

Thanks.

read the security guide and open up the ports Nortel recommends to enable through a firewall.

As stated in my post. The firewall has been configured to allow all traffic on all protocols and ports (for testing purposes, of course)...still the same issue.

are you using ZoneAlarm?

have you talked to Nortel on this issue?

If you are using ZoneAlarm, have you talked to them?

Yes, all required ports are open (in fact, we've opened all ports from any source during testing). Unfortunately, Nortel states that they do not support this application on clients with a personal firewall (not sure why).

Yes, it is a zone personal fw (Integrity) and we are also working with them, however, they haven't seen anything out of the ordinary thus far on the firewall app that would bve causing the issue.

Are you able to load up different firewall and test?

It seems that it's firewall causing the issue, since everything works when it's disabled.
