Does anyone recognize these errors and how did you fix them?

An error occurred while exporting the RSM Database Files.

Symptom:
Backups fail with the error "An error occurred opening an RSM Session. The RSM Database could not be backed up.^ ^ ^ ^ ^ An error(s) occurred while exporting Windows 2000 feature(s) for backup."

Exact Error Message:

An error occurred opening an RSM Session. The RSM Database could not be backed up.^ ^ ^ ^ ^ An error(s) occurred while exporting Windows 2000 feature(s) for backup.

Solution:

This error will occur if the Removable Storage service is disabled. This type of failure occurs if the Removable Storage service has been disabled in Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services. To prevent jobs from failing for this reason, please perform any of the following:

1. Upgrade from VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 8.0 for Windows NT and Windows 2000 to Backup Exec 8.5 for Windows NT and Windows 2000. This is a free upgrade

2. Exclude the NTMSDATA folder from the backup selection list. This directory is located under Winnt\System32

3. Restart the Removable Storage service

If needed, the tape devices can then be disabled from use through the Removable Storage Management (RSM) (the typical reason for disabling the RSM service) by performing the following:

1. Open Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Removable Storage | Physical Locations

2. Right-click on each tape device, and click Properties

3. Clear the Enable library check box

After performing any of the above solutions, backup operations should no longer fail with the error message given above.
