I have this little problem,

root@server:/usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R/rsc
$ ./rscadm help

rscadm: RSC firmware not responding

So.... I try,

root@server:/usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R/rsc
$ ./rsc-config

rscadm: RSC firmware not responding

So.... how do I regain control of the RSC?

Try rsacadm command "resetrsc"

I think it is in /usr/platform/`uname -i`/rscadm.
If not then use the find command to find "rscadm"

tuka,

It accepts the command, and returns me to a prompt with no error, but nothing noticable happens.

On all other rscadm commands I issue, I get the firmware not responding response.

Thanks!

WhiteVolg,

Yes.

When the firmware is not functioning, login's will not work.

This seems to have been an upgrade in SUNWrsc that went bad and I have found no way to recover it.

I have removed the board, pulled the battery out, and disconnected the secondary battery for several hours hoping that it would reset to factry defaults but no luck.

I have found no documentation that explains any jumper settings which will force a factry default reset of the card either, but there has to be a way.

What is comes down to is, the OS can not communicate with the card, and the card has no remote access avaliable, so I have no way to activate, upgrade, or downgrade the card's firmware.

SOLVED!

/usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R/rsc/rscadm download /usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R/lib/images/rscfw

This re-installed the firmware, then, reboot -- -r, and rsc is active again. Whew.. =)

Thanks,

Dorga, you are da man!

I am working on a V890, and was applying a change and it did not complete successfully. Before I got here, I've already tried all rscadm options that I thought would help. nothing, the same response.

Sun's manual is not really helpful there either. Your post was the only one out there that was able to help me. Thanks again.

Please provide the output for the below..
/usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/prtdiag -v | grep Keyswitch
