I have the RSA Authentication Manager 7.1 evaluation kit along with two RSA SecurID tokens. I am attempting to install it and am getting really frustrated....

I have a Vanilla W2K3 Enterprise x86 installation. Its a Hyper-V Sysprep'd machine with nothing other than the OS, SP2 and all the latest updates. I have used this image several times for other software evaluation and testing and am more than happy it isn't this.

I have configured the system with a static IP and resolvable names (DNS Forward & Reverse lookups work). I am attempting to install RSA Authentication Manager and get an error at the end of the installation saying:
Unable to complete Authentication Manager configuration successfully
If I look in this file the only other error message I can see is:
ProductException: (error code = 601; message="Failure executing C:\Program Files\RSA Security\RSA Authentication Manager/config/configUtil.cmd, return code=1")

Any ideas, this was supposed to be a morning task to get the software installed but I haven't got that far yet....

Andy

-Installing from an ISO image.
-RSA secureID native
-Physical server
-Windows server 2003 SP2(Enterprise edition).

Ok, there are known issues in native 7.1 and i really recommend you ask your vendor for the SP2 (SP3 is out now) ISO image, however if this is not possible for whatever reason theres some trouble shooting you can do:

Did you install JRE before RSA?
What did you name the Windows 2003 Server?

Thanks,I will try to get the latest SP3.

Btw, Is JRE required for this installation?
It has the name acesrv as computer name

Finally i got the same problem "ProductException: (error code = 601; message="Failure executing C:\Program Files\RSA Security\RSA Authentication Manager/config/configUtil.cmd, return code=1")" .

Same message as we got, as explained, its a generic error message from RSA, the fixes include (but not limited to):
Not having "RSA" in the hostname
Having JRE installed before installation happens
using the SP2 ISO image, mounted with magic ISO/Alcohol 120% or similar

have you tried all these?

- I dont have RSA in the hostname.
- Installed JRE before RSA authentication manager 7.1 installation.

using the SP2 ISO image, mounted with magic ISO/Alcohol 120% or similar
>> No. i am trying to get the latest version.

@bouzbbal, @aedhasdad, @leeqa, et al:

Hi folks! I hope this is already resolved for everyone, but that's probably a bit optimistic.

I brought this over to RSA Engineering, where I do some consulting, but I couldn't find anyone able to offer any specific diagnosis based on the information provided in the thread. As someone noted earlier, Error 601 is a generic fault and it is difficult to localize the problem without a full review of the log.

If you have the latest version of the RSA code, and if you have addressed the obvious setup and config issues -- and you still get a 601 Error -- RSA Tech Support will ask you to ZIP the files in the …/config/logs directory and send them the whole packet for review and analysis.

Hope this helps!

THank you for your imput Uistman.

BTW, i am an RSA SecurID Certified System Engineer :)
