rs232c port for smdr kx td1232

Hi,

I am experiencing a real problem connecting the rs232c port to the pc (com) port.It seems that no data is coming out the rs232c port.It is configured to let the data out .I think the problem is with the cable.I am currently using a 25 pin nullmodem adapter, a 25 to 9 pin converter and a straight serial cable.It works on other systems except this one..

Please advise,

unlikely,yes if defaulting it did not solve it .it is
doubtful that poping chips in there will ,but if you have the upgrade chips it can't hurt at this point....

I found them to be particular about cables

I use a smart cable , ive used it on one site with a diffrent system , gone to a panasonic site had it not work , gone to another non panasonic site and it worked fine

I would go to radio chack and buy a cable and a null modem adapter and try it

If the circuit chip or other component supporting the EIA-232 port is fried, you need to replace the KSU. Firmware won't fix a blown chip!!

According to RS232 spect, every pin it's suppose to support short-circuit with out blow-up the component:

Better recheck the modem-cable!

SMDR on D1232 KSU watches serial DTR. One DTR is set, it will begin immediately dumping data as DCE at 9600 8N1.

If this is not working, either you have SMDR disabled (system program 8xx), or you have a hardware fault.

I suggest verifying serial cable's Rx GND and DTR pins.
