Hi there,

I have an IP Office unit that is not connected to the LAN or WAN and would like to gain access to it to manage it. It has been set up to use all Digital handsets and analogue lines so there are currently no VoIP connections so no web and/or Manager access. I need to access the PBX and determine it's configuration and make a few changes. How can I configure the PBX through the RS232 port which will allow me to connect via LAN and subsequently use the Manager software?

Thanks.

I would try the default IP addressing. If that doesn't work you can connect to the RS232, reboot, depending on the version it should spit out a lot of info during the boot cycle. It will give you the IP in a hex format, if you don't know what it is.

Or just connect with Wireshark running, doesn't matter what address you use as you should still see ARP requests (as they're layer 2) and that will reveal it's IP address :)

If you have manager software most likely the WAN port is still set to 192.168.43.1 so just static your laptop to that range and access through the wan port

You need a 9 pin serial cable, comms software like PuTTY and a PC with a serial port.
Hook up the cable between IP Office and the PC, start the comms software 38400,8,N,1 and press Enter.
You should get a response, if not then either your cable, selected COM port or whatever is wrong.

If you get a response type "at-debug"(case sensitive!), you get a system prompt, then type "updatelan".
It will show current LAN settings like:
Current LAN1: ipaddr: 192.168.42.1 mask: 255.255.255.0 (LAN port)
Current LAN2: ipaddr: 128.75.0.100 mask: 255.255.255.0 (WAN port)
Enter which lan interface (lan1 or lan2): lan1 (or hit enter to leave unchanged)
Then press enter to leave without any change.

Now adjust the PC LAN settings to match the IP Office LAN1 network and use Manager to program the rig.

If you don't know the login credentials then in the comms software type "localta" to leave the debug menu.
Then type AT-SECURITYRESETALL (capitals!) and follow the prompts, security will be set back to factory standard.

Thanks fellas. I managed to get the IP address using the older version of Wireshark. ....the new version didn't seem to work for me.

Thanks again fro the suggestions.
