Due to expansion we have moved into a second office, the new office has ADSL connections to the internet and uses a 2K server with RRAS installed. Using NAT LAN clients can connect ot the internet fine. The problem is with connection to the head office via PPTP.

We have created a persistant connection between sites (using PPTP), and the new office server can ping head office servers across this connection ok (this is using private IPs not public), however connection to these servers from the desk top can not be established.

I have tried adding the Remote router interface to NAT, and adding static routes using the remote router interface for head office IP address, neither resolves the problem.

Anybody know the answer?

hi there,

so you can ping the machines in head office, but does DNS work fine too?
nslookup -> fine too?
What exactly do you mean by "connection to these servers from the desk top"?
Network drive mapping? -> First try with IP, not hostname.
if that works, you ave a DNS issue I would guess.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers
Damien

There are no issues with DNS, only IP addresses are used when pinging, besides which we have full internet access no problm. "connection to these servers from the desk top" is refering to LAN clients in the new office accessing servers in the head office.
