Does anyone out there have any RPGIV socket programming experience?

I am trying to setup a TCP/IP wireless device that scans barcodes and returns price infornation on a small screen.

These devices are attached to a common access point device.

Any idea how to configure these on an AS/400?

For the protocol, it should allow sending picture files to the device and not require a signon or password. In other words, it should be varied on at IPL and always ready to send and receive information.

Has anyone ever been involved with the above?

Hi,

Going through the technical documentation, there is no mention that 5250 is supported but AS/400 is one of the servers in the examples along with Windows and VAX. I will check with the manufacturer on Monday.

It is mentioned though that there is an API called ProductInfo that permits the communications between the unit and the server. They also talk about the following protocols: QFX (used by ProductInfo), FTP and NTP.

Thanks for replying,

Hi,

Thanks for the hint. I will have a look at that site. As for 5250 protocol, the unit does not support it. Only QFX, NTP and FTP.

Thanks again,

I'm not certain if I am in the right forum or not, but here are my questions. Is it possible to convert AS400 RPG code into Microsoft .NET? If it is, does the conversion work fairly well or is there a lot of clean up afterward?

Thanks very much.
