Still no luck on the RPC Server Unavailable. Have tried rebooting, and reinstalling service pak. When using the net start / stop command I am told it is running but can't do anything with printers whatsoever on the server. Resources are bountiful on this machine. I understand the spool files may be corrupted and need to be reinstalled, how do I unpak them from the winnt server cd rom? or how to i get good copies of them to replace the bad ones with?? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to share.

If you add new printers do thy add correctly? How about doing a print directly to printer? How about printing from DOS?

Is there anything in the spool folder of winnt?

Can't even open the ADD Printer icon, I immediately get the RPC Server is Unavailable and can't go any further. Get that response when attempting to do anything with the printers whatsoever, or view their services. I have manually started RPCSS and RPC Locator Service but still no luck. This problem is going to drive me crazy, it is on a Law Enforcement Server and we don't want to have to reinstall Windows NT Server for obvious reasons.... Thanks for your help...

Well...Is everything else running fine on the Server? Check to make sure that there aren't any other programs or services that are being affected as well. Are you getting this everytime you try to do add a printer, or if you reboot, are you able to perform the action???? You might want to monitor your server to make sure everything is smooth on the server itself......Good Luck...!!!!

Yes the server communicates with the PDC, and BDC servers just fine with no other problems whatsoever. The server is brought down weekly and re-booted and nothing fishy is going on except with the RPC SERVICES. Also, it NEVER lets us go into the add printer wizard. It instantly says RPC SERVER UNAVAILABLE! so we have no way of adding a NEW NETWORK PRINTER which we need desperately... Server is running great except for the RPC SERVICES.
