I'm trying to install a back up agent and when I try to authenticate it gives me the error message, RPC server not available.

At a command prompt, run a 'net start' command, and ensure the following service is started:

Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

If, after you check the previous post and find that RPC service is running, make sure the back-up agent itself did not add a service that needs to be configured to start automatically.

May want to check for nasty things like NACHI and his kin....

Check the following

Ms link
1. net start (Ensure that RPC service started)

2. In case no try as follows net start "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)"

3. In case get a error "file specified can't be located"

4. Ensure that your system has svchost.exe (if deleted) RPC and many other services will not be running.

5. To resolve RPC issue go through MS article.

Thanks

Thanks for your responses. I have done all of the above and still get the same message. I can ping the servers with no problem. I am also getting: server is not accepting transactions, when I try to get to the backup server from the remote server.
