I am setting up rpc over http on my server which is a single server back-end working as a proxy for http connections. I have opened https port on my firewall to the server on the private LAN.

For an outlool client to connect I need to open the following ports as well:
1301, 1051,1025 and 135.
If I do not open these ports on my firewall outlook on the client is re-asking me for the user and password and then it goes offline.

All the other ports from outlook to the exchange server are going thru as https and I can see them.
Anyone encountered this problem before?
I am running Outlook 2003 SP2.
Thank you.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the post. Unfortunatley when I open only those ports, it simply does not work and Outlook keeps on asking me for the password.

If I open ports 1301, 1051,1025 and 135, Outlook just works but I am concerned about security with these ports opened.

Does anybody met this issue before?
Thank you very much.

Those ports should not need to be opened. I wold recommend going therough the RPC over HTTP deployment guide and checking all the steps.

Make sure you hav configured the registry properly on the Global Catalogs for ports (going by memory here) 6001-6004.

I hope you find this post helpful.
