Hello. I'm new to the forum and I do not know if I'm in the proper forum for the question I'm about ask.

Does anyone know is there a royalty fee for selling (or commercially distributed) specialized Access databases to the general public? If so, what licensing program does this fall under? There are so many offered by Microsoft that it's confusing!

I know that MS Office Development kit (or whatever it is called) has a royalty-free way of distributing your Access database with a water-down executable version of Access itself for those PCs that do not have MS Access installed. For now, I'm just interested in selling databases to those with Access installed.

Thank you for your time.

There is no fee payable to microsoft for you giving/selling/licensing anyone any .mdb file that you created.

Hello jsteph. Thank you very much for your response! As with any research, I need to confirm this from another source. Can anyone please confirm this? (see original message)

Thank you for your time.

(jsteph: I don't mean to question your knowledge and I do sincerely apologize if I offended you in any way by posting this but I got burned a few times by relying on a single source. Thanks again for your response!)

If you provide a clint with an MDB file or an MDE file then it is the clients reponsiblity to have a licenced copy of MS access.

No different from giving someone a word document.

Hope this helps

Jimmy
