Row Height and Column Width Different 2

Why is a row with height = 5 so much thinner than a column width = 5?

Column width is in "nominal" character width while row height is in points.

Never mind:

Row height is measured in points and is universal from computer to computer. However, column width is different. A column width of 9 indicates that an average number of 0-9 digits that can fit in the column using the standard font.

Just an added tip: when you use the mouse to resize a column or row, the width AND the number of pixels appears. That made it easier for me to make the cells dimensionally equal.

And if you hold down the ALT key whilst draging the borders, it will override the snap-to-grid action and let you set any measurement.
