Hi All
I have a problem in routing, my machine on class c and i can ping it from a private ip address machine , but i have a very long delay if i try to telnet from the private ip machine.
If any one has any know about this please help me out
Thanx for all

Are you telnetting the IP address or the hostname?

Delays telnetting can somtimes be attributed to DNS lookup problems. Do you have DNS configured? LHLTech

I have a DNS configured and I am sure from my gateway and also the problem happen when i telnet through hostname.
but when I get one machine out of that subnet i have no prblem with my configuration. when i asked the network people to fix the problem if it is related to netwprk rather than it is an AIX issue the claimed that the network is fine and they tried the telnet uding microsft environment and it works fine??!!!!

When you telnet to your RS/6000 machine, it tries to reverse resolv the name of client machine, to store that name in all needed logs. Look at the DNS configuration of your AIX machine and look if your client has a name registered in the DNS.
I hope it works...
