Hello,

I originally had one site with a single Exchange 2007 server with all the roles on the same box. The customer opened a new office. I setup a DC (part of the same domain) in the new office. Each DC is in it's own AD site. I then installed another Exchange 2007 server in the new office but only had the Client Access, Hub Transport and Mailbox roles. I successfully moved a test account from the first exchange server onto the second one. Outlook is able to connect to the second exchange server without any issues. So far everything is ok. However, when I send an email (from an external domain) to an email address that is on the second server, it gets stuck in the queue of the first server. Do I need some sort of connector to tell it to send the email destined for the second exchange through the VPN site to site ? A collegue did a similar setup but with Exchange 2003 and everything worked automatically (routing).

Second question, the public URL for OWA works fine for the main exchange server but it doesn't work for mailboxes on the second exchange server. Is there any way of keeping the same public URL to access mailboxes on either exchange server ?

thanks

Update.

Ok, first problem solved. It was the Mailguard from the cisco pix that was at the secondary site. Didn't expect that to analyze traffic going through the vpn.

OWA still doesn't want to open mailbox on the second server. Anyway of telling OWA to look for the mailbox on the second server ?

thanks.

Nevermind. Found out how to do it.

Reboot primary Exchange server.
Since my Exchange server is also a DC, had to move the DC server into the same AD site.
Run Exchange 2007 "setup /prepareAD" on the secondary server until you get a Success message.
Uninstall CAS on the primary Exchange server.
Reboot primary exchange server
Reinstall CAS on the primary Exchange server.
Verify your External and Internal URL for OWA on the primary Exchange server.

That's it.
