1. How do I route calls without using DID's? I will have two automated attendants (Group Call 790 and 791) and I want half of the channels to go to one AA and the other half to the others? Can I define this in the incoming and routing Dial Plan or this is only used for DID's? The truth is that I do not understand to well the adding and deleting of digits when routing a call.

2. Can I use a 100D or 100 DS1 for this type of configuration (PRI through DMS 100 with B channel subgroup L1 flag set yes, B8ZS and ESF)

3. Why would I need a loop-back jack?

I am not a guru but I have a handle on some of the basics.

The adding and deleting of digits are used when your service provider can't send you the exact same digits your extension/dialplan uses. For example, your provider has already sold your exact extension numbers but has block xxx-xxx-2500 thru xxx-xxx-2599 for sale to you. Your extensions are 200 thru 299. They will either send you 3 or 4 digits. Therefore you could delete and add digits to obtain the needed extension number. There are many possible variations this is just a simple example.

As far as how calls come in on your T1 you will have to ask your service provider what their ability is for spliting DID's on different incomming channels. If you are using 800 #'s you can have those point to a specific DID #. Typically from what I've seen people use all unknown DID's (anything in the DID range your bought but is not translated in the switch as an extension for hunt group, etc) bouce directly to the main auto attendent, a live attendent, or an announcement if you have that ability.

You have allot of good options, especially if your incomming calls are on 800 #'s or can be ported onto your new T1 by your service provider. It would be a shame to split up your new T1 like that when it is so dynamic.

Sounds like your might want to hire a vendor atleast for the software portion.

There's no good reason for routing DID calls on separate trunks. Each call coming into your switch via T-1 service is already routed via the "outpulsed digits". This is a predetermined plan from yor T-1 provider that says that eithe these DID's or these "ported" numbers come in and are coded with specific digits. Your job then, is to set up various extensions, calling croups, adjuncts, etc., so as to "catch" these various digits. Your switch then becomes a "sorting" device that does different things to different numbers dialed by your callers. TipHelp@charter.net
