I am trying to route between 2 network cards in the same Windows XP machine. One has IP address of 192.168.22.131 S/M 255.255.255.240 and D/G 192.168.22.129 this goes into a dedicated ISDN Router for accessing Citrix else where off site. The other card is IP 10.128.240.x S/M 255.255.254.0 D/G 10.128.240.1 I have tried adding the 192 range by using route add but just get errors. When I/F with the 10.x address is enabled the 192.x I/F no longer works. Can any one help me to get both working at the sametime depending on which applications I am trying to use.

Thanks

1. You can't have two default gateway's on a single machine. The second NIC should not have a DG of 10.128.240.1 - it should be blank.
2. Can XP route? I know it can do ICS but that sets your IP address to the 192.168.0.x subnet. But, on reading this I don't think you want to route just access services on both subnets.

If you need to access applications at the same time on the different subnets you shouldn't have a problem. It's only when you want to go off subnet on the 10.128.240/23 network that you will have issues. To resolve this you will need to add static routes to your XP box (or to the ISDN router) to tell your XP box about any networks that are on the other side of the 10.128.240.1 gateway.

Castor66s advice is spot on, you need to add a static route. What was the error you were getting when using route add? Can you do a route print for us and post the output.

BTW. This is the wrong forum.

Thanks for the info. Your right I don't actually want to route between the two i just want to access my LAN for shared drives and I also need to access this other application through the other card. I can access my LAN when my LAN card or the other card is enabled but I can only access the other application through the other card if my LAN card is disabled. I really am confused and not sure on what to add in the routing table.

route add 10.128.240.0 mask 255.255.255.254 10.128.240.1

Or go into the properties of the second LAN card and remove the default gateway.

Thanks very much. This worked and I am a very happy chap.

Regards

Ian
