Routing & Remote Access - improving speed

I'm looking for ways to improve the speed on my windows 2003 RAS server running Routing and Remote Access.

At home I can connect to the internet and get a download/upload of about 1.5MB. After I connect with a VPN connection to my RAS server I get about 600K down/up.

Can anyone offer any recomendations on improving the speed of this VPN connection? Even if your opinion is that is normal...

My opinion is that it's normal after encrypt / decrypt at both ends.

I agree with this, you have to understand that will VPNs you have the overhead of encryption protocols which will probably cut into upload/download speed.

I appriciate your reponses. this is the first time I've ever used or implemented VPN and not sure what to expect. My thoughts were the same... just wanted to get a second opinion.
