I am looking for a lower end (but not garbage) router that does all of your basic router functions along with being able to do static NAT and possibly DHCP. Any suggestions on something that won't "break the bank"?

Our core router is a Cisco 7200 VXR and runs out some bonded T's but this one will go out a standard TWC modem.

As always, any help is appreciated.

If that is ADSL, then an 877 or 871 would be okay for like 10 users. If you want closer to wire speed, then an 1800 series (1841 for wireless, I think...)...

Hey Burt,

The router would connect to a Time Warner Cable modem via standard Ethernet patch cable. It would mainly need to handle a fair amount of static NAT settings and possibly DHCP but not sure if I am going to that or not but I want the ability to do so. There would be a max of 150 or so users behind it going out to the internet.

Any suggestions, Cisco or otherwise?

Cisco 1841 router should work really good for this. The bigger question is which IOS to use - since it appears to be a firewall start with Advanced IP Services IOS and max out the memory and flash.

Have fun...
