I have connected to the module with HT and programmed the router as/per the magix install instructions.
I’m using channels 20 – 23 for data (256k). The rest of the channels are for the phone system using PRI. I went right down page 6-46 on “steps required to configure the INA”, programming ether0 and W19. I’m sure the IP addresses are right. Is there a setting that the magix manual didn’t include? I also found a PortMaster guide, but nothing that I tried has corrected the problem.
The service provider says they don’t see my router at all, and of course a ping gets no response. The phone system works fine. I did route channels 20 – 23 to the router under CSU/DSU.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hi,
Just a few thoughts, did you set the protocol
such as set w20 protocol ppp or set w20 proto frame? After you make the change type save all and reboot Also did you set the netmask? You need a netmask for both the wan and the lan. On the module dip switch 1 should be to the right and switch 2 to the left.

you will probably need to set the ether0 broadcast to high, it defaults to low.

hope some of this helps.

when u can't ping the far end router, then review ur router's ip adress, subnet mask, and wan protocol. and dont forget to turn off all the filters while ping testing.

Chcoale,
I did set protocol w19 ppp, and both netmasks, dip swiches set, broadcast high.

@ show w19
Active Configuration:
all the addresses look right, but the
Interface:(says)Unassigned (PPP) is this right?

fonedude,
yes

The provider says the signal is 64K clear channel PPP.

Try the show all command. It should say "connecting" or "Established" in the w19 line.

fonedude,

it says "connecting"

If it says "connecting", unfortunately, there is still a problem in the setup. I have done this with a T-1 but not a PRI. On the 100R card on top there are 3 LEDs,what is the present status. Is the bottom LED red? Sometimes you need to go into the Magix and clear out errors. I am assuming since you went by the book that you did the "save all" commands and the occasional "reboot". On Friday afternoon I'm free. I'll call you, if you want. These cards work OK once there running.

fonedude,

No red LED. Top yellow is lit when on a voice channel (standard).

Thanks,

I have a copy of a document called the INA cookbook which is a word document which gives examples of how to set it up both for PPP or frame relay. If you want it, I can email it to you. I suspect it will answer your questions.
Send me an email at magixtrainer@aol.com if you want it?
