hi,

I got a mysterious problems with the cisco 1601
router(version 11.1),
when I try to login using (pc with 2000server and
modem with 57600 speed ),

the router shutdown and crash in the authentication
period, and I can't tape any command till I reload.

the configuration I used is the fellowing :
*****************************************************

what is the cause of this prb?

thank's for help.

Have you tried adding,
Router(config-line)#modem autoconfigure discovery
Router(config-line)#password ???
Router(config-line)#login

the problem is not with authentication, but the router crash in the period of aythentication(when the serlia change state to up),
and the same thing happen when I try to force the interface serial to change up ,
with the command:
Router(config-if)#async mode dedicated

strange?

I noticed a typo in your config that may have something to do with it. Your ip pool name is "dial" however on your serial interface you named it "dia", this will cause an ip conflict when your pc requests an address.

hi,
thanks for your help,

the probleme wasn't in the configuration, but I used an x21
card that's not used with modem.
