Hey guys,
I have a group of NEC Elite phones that are setup with a common CO line input setup on LK1.
How do I get the voice mail system to pick up on the incoming call if nobody answers the incoming call?
I think I'm too close to the problem and can't see the forest for the trees but if what I'm describing makes any sense to you could you please help me out?
Thanks

You would need to re-structure how calls are answered. Each extension would need a call appearance key (1 per CO line) on a button of every phone. DIT your CO lines to the CAP key (call appearance key), then call forward busy/no answer the call appearance key to the VM pilot number.
Calls will be answered on the CAP key and not on a CO line key.
It's a twisted way of doing things, but that's how NEC set it up for that system.

I believe I have the call appearance key setup properly on LK1 for this incoming CO. Not sure what DIT means, sorry this is not my forte but can you elaborate in color crayons for me?
Thanks very much for answering my question.

If calls are already terminating on the CAP key, then go off hook, dial 45 (CF B/NA CAP key) + CAP key extension number + VM pilot number. 46 to cancel
EX: CAP key = 200, VM pilot = 300
Go off hook dial 45 + 200 + 300 to set.

Well, thought I had it.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
We have another side business we want to keep separate from our side of the building but use our phone system.
We have taken one of our four CO lines and removed it from the hunt group and gave the number to them and I have removed CO4 from appearing on all our phones and assigned it to LK1 on the new business phones.
There are 5 phones involved with the new side.
One phone will be the receptionist phone of which I would like the voice mail to be on and none others.
I tried the DIT as mentioned above but when I do I lose the ability for any of the other office phones to be able to pick up the call and when I turn off the DIT everything works but the voice mail does not pick up.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

2 ways to do this. Place a SIE key of receptionists phone on a button on the other phones (assign it to ring or not), or use the group pickup feature.

Here's what I did:
I setup the receptionist phone for DIT.
Setup CF /NA on same phone to go to VM
Setup remaining extensions for SIE call pickup on LK2 and CO1 on LK1, now they can answer incoming call and if nobody picks up VM picks it up.
I think this will work.
Thank you so much for your help.

One last question:

Somehow I have lost the ability to answer incoming DID calls to my extension.
Inn other words when someone calls me on my direct number my phone will ring but I am unable to answer it.
Not sure what I did to do that.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
