Hello - I am trying to add a route, but get the error message 'The route addition failed : 87' Does anyone know what this is??

what type of device are you trying to add a route to? NT, Linux, Router?

Most likely you're default gateway is incorrect or your network and netmask don't correspond.

NT Route add is as follows:

Route add 10.102.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.101.1.1

I am trying to enable our Melbourne office to access our Rushcutters Windows 2000 Terminal Server (through our router). These two cannot ping each other.
I try route add xxx.xxx.xxx.x mask 255.255.255.0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and if i don't get the error 87 message & try to ping, i get request time out & destination net reachable. Hope this helps..

Im assuming you're doing this from the router. Routes must be added from both locations, or traffic will reach its destination, but won't be able to return.

Add the a route to its destination network on both routers.
