Route & COT...Am I on the right Track?

Could someone have a look and see if I'm on the right track.
I'm new to all this and have made it this far with everyones help from here.

I've created a new route "0" in Ld 16
and COT line on 7 1
(I am reusing a system from another company and just want to add our phone line to the PBX system and use the digital phones etc) heres what I've done so far.. my question is am i on the right track, and where do i go from here to receive or make calls?

Wow, all these great reply's from John and Buddy, and it's still NOT working!? I don't mean to be mean, but, YOU really need to bite the bullet and get some help from your local Nortel vendor, that could also give you some tips on what you have and how to maintain it. Spend a couple of bucks and it will pay you back.

Take an analogue telephone and hook it to the phone line. Go off hook. Do you get dial tone? If yes maybe its because you are configured for ground start(SIGL=GRD)if you do get dial tone change trunk to SIGL=LOP. If you do not get dial tone, role tip and ring of the trunk.
You should be able to direct access the trunk by dialing the acod. TGAR and TARG could stop this, but you said you get dead air when ACOD is dialed.
 
where do you have your single dialtone connected to? if you take an inbound call then do a stat 7 what does it show... it is aloop start trunk since your using a working line

DocVic, it's not mean to say get a Vendor involved and spend some money, you're right and I will but only as a last resource or until we need to add more lines etc. Just wanted to know if I could do this without spending the money right now.
These are all great replys and everyone here has been very helpful.
I went from having a dead system to being able to call around the building using DN's and being able to recieve incoming calls along with being able to provide info that was asked for inorder to help me, along with other things, changing names etc on phone sets. (also never laid eyes on one of these in my life, I think I'm doing pretty good..so so far so good, don't mind learning or reading)
Any Nortel Vendors In Canada/Nova Scotia.

We knew from the print out it was programmed as ground start, but is it a ground start trunk from the central office. Check the line. If you go off hook and get dial tone it is loop start and you are programmed incorrectly.
If you do not get dial tone ground the tip while off hook, you should sieze dial tone. If you have polarity wrong on the trunk the PBX will not sieze it.
 
I just looked up RVSD in the maintenance manual and RVSD indicates a reversal of the trunk polarity. back to the basics.

So do I just reverse some wires or reprogram a certain load to fix this?
or just change SIGL GRD to LOP in LD 16 & or LD 14?
what about the TGAR and TARG what should these be or should i be trying.

Problem 1> The stat 7, where it says RVSD, tells us that you have a reversal. The two wires that connect the telephone line to the PBX need to be flipped.

If it still does not work.

A telephone line has 2 wires. They are called tip and ring. You need to know if the telephone line is loop start or ground start.
A ground start line will require you put a ground on one of those 2 wires (Tip) to get dial tone. As soon as you hear dial tone remove the ground.
FYI(The PBX puts the ground on the tip when the line is programmed as GRD).
A loop start trunk will get dial tone just by going off hook.

If you have a loop start trunk.
Change the programming of the Trunk in LD 14 at the SIGL prompt to LOP.

Problem solved...
Thanks for every ones help in this matter.
Went from none working system to working incoming, out going, call park, transfer calls all for 0$'s and some great help and patience from the people at tek-tips.

SIGL had to be changed from GND to LOP in LD 14

now onto the next problem, caller ID,and mail, If someone can point me in the right direction.

Caller ID on Analogue trunks is not something I have dealt with. We have a number of analogue trunks and we get no CLID or CND.
Mail is an externally configured beast. If you have Mermail it should be in the dedicated slots of the cabinet. I think Callpilot is always external but I could be wrong.
Mermail you need to get into with the supplied octopus cable (vt100 N,8,1)and Callpilot will need an IP address and browser to connect.
Meridain Mail isn't something I would even attempt to try to talk you thru. It is configured with a combination of f keys and key input and depending on which release may log in differently. If it is Callpilot is very user friendly and if you can get logged in you should be able to figure it out.
This is where you probably want a vendor to at least get you going.

for mail. prt cdn.. the default for that box was ext 700.. but you have a cdn built IF it's been built... if the old sets are still there, prt a few and look for cls mwa, maybe a msg key, once you see that.. try dialing the hunt or fdn.. those are the two lines that send a call to mail.. what kind of mail do you have?

Universal trunk cards do not support Caller ID. Your Clid info from ld 21 indicates this system once uses a Pri circuit.

Thank you for the reply.
Was just hoping there was an easy fix, like editing or installing another card instead of having the telephone company charging us for additional options.
(basically making use of what we have as it was at no cost to us for the system,)
