Hi folks,

One of my staff has an excel spreadsheet that she has been using for sometime that holds basic accounts details, see below for extent of spreadsheet - not exactly mousetrap science.

Home Overspend underspend
home1 655
home2 95
total total total

A problem has occured in that she enters 6655 and that automatically converts to 66.55 in some columns, which hasn't previously happened, and at other times she'll enter eg, 468 and the value 5 will appear.

Now, I've checked the cell format and can find nothing to indicate why it should be doing this. If anyone can shed light on this, I'd be grateful,

Thanks,

Jes

Jes,
For the cell that has 6655, what is selected when you're in Format - Cell??
Try selecting General, if it isn't.

Hi Sopman,

I've tried changing to general and the outputed format stays the same. What concerns me more is that with the same spreadsheet I don't get the same problem on my machine, it behaves as it should.

Once again, as is common with strange office problems, I feel a re-install approaching.

Check the Tools-Options, Edit tab on her machine.

Is Fixed decimal checked? It's not checked by default.
