No, there is a running - yes running - productive ORA DB on it. so I can´t reboot and hope all is good...

If it's got a productive ORA DB on it then it's backed up, isn't it? If it is backed up then restore the ODB, if it's not then you're in the middle of learning just why backups are so important.

On the internet no one knows you're a dog

Thank you - nice hint. yes we have a backup but I don´t want to restore, because it takes to long and loss of production. the ora db is up and running - without errors.
so it would be very nice if someone has an idea.

Hi all!

I solved the problem - but I didn´t know how...
with redefinevg it works, but at beginning I already tried a redefinevg and it doesn´t work.

So I could only say, I am happy now.
thanks!

That's the kind of problem that I would schedule a reboot as soon as business processes permit, even a lunchtime reboot if it could be done.

Scheduling an emergency reboot is far preferable to what might happen if the OS ends up with a kernel panic because rootvg is MIA.

The flip side is that it might not come up from a reboot - make sure your bootlist is current, or if your platform allows, force a boot from a particular device.

Whatever happens, it looks like your weekend is going to suck.
