rootvg running on AIX 5.2 ML 2 is corrupt?
The server has two HD's mirrored, one has failed.
Below are some of the symptoms,

lsvg -p rootvg
0516-040 : Unable to read the specified physical volume
descriptor area.
lspv -l hdisk0
0516-040 : Unable to read the specified physical volume
descriptor area.

I've tried running synclvodm, but that returns a similar message.
Will the rvgrecover script fix this issue? The system is operational, but I'm positive the server will not reboot in the event of an unexpected shutdown.
Can this be fixed, or will I have to reimage the server?

Thanks

No, it's been up for over a year. If I reboot, I'm worried the system will not start.

I remember I had similiar problem when SAN disks I used for rootvg were not accessible for a moment. When I was sure they are accessible again, I did reboot and system started without any problem.

btw. if the system is still the on disk(s) and at least one disk is ok with quorum is off for rootvg (default in mirrored rootvg - when miror is done using mirrorvg rootvg) when your AIX is not lost and will start.

try readvgda on the other disk (hdisk1 I assume)

readvgda hdisk1 | more

and see if this other disk still has a functioning vgda on it.
